    Features

    • UPDATED LAST

A new 102mm wide last provides more performance and comfort. The widest part of the shell is now located further back on the lateral side of the foot, near the “sixth toe” providing more comfort in a critical area for a lot of feet. To further enhance fit and performance, the toe box and heel pocket have been reshaped to provide a significant increase in both precision and responsiveness compared to previous versions. More comfort, more performance!

      CARBON CORE SHELL + CUFF

The Maestrale/Gea RS model shells combine Carbon Core technology with Grilamid®Bio for increased power and and impulse transmission without adding weight. The all new cuff design now uses Pebax Rnew as opposed to Grilimid to give a more progressive flex throughout the turn. The RS model cuff also features Carbon Core technology for increases torsional rigidity while also providing a 61-degree range of motion for long efficient strides.

      GEA RS BOOT REVIEW

      BY SCARPA ATHLETE ANGELA HAWSE

"The new GEA RS has significant upgrades on an already best in class AT boot! This is my 5th generation of the GEA and RS version, I think the first was the green model. I’ve been a SCARPA athlete since 2015 and acknowledge my privilege to work with the brand and benefit from product that spans all mountain sports I pursue for work and play. My first impression was the noticeably lower volume forefoot which was concerning - I don’t wear tight boots. It did take 8 days of up and down use before my high arch and instep perfectly to the tongue/shell zone which ultimately resulted in a more precise fit than previous models. That said, previous models I’ve worn right out of the box with no fit issues, so these required a break in for me. Also noticeable is a change in the toe box shape which has ample room but definitely results on more precision and contact in the boot than previous models."

      ENHANCED PERFORMANCE

"Compared to earlier GEA’s, I experience performance improvements with this new model in; 1) lower volume everywhere - forefoot, sole, cuff and heel, without significant fit differences of previous models (= less snow glopping to the boot, easier to travel with, more streamlined fit with crampons), 2) the heel cup and buckle system lock my heel in better than any previous model, 3) the power strap is more functional, easier to use and adjust (no velcro!) and adds significant support with forward flex, 4) buckles are more user friendly with adjustments and improved fine tuning, as well easier to replace if they break, 5) improved stiffness in the cuff and boot overall is noticeable with responsiveness and performance on the down, 6) uphill range of motion is improved, the boot is lighter and the walk mode mechanism is improved. I’m a size 38 / Wm’s 7 and have always used size 23.5 in the GEA. This on the size chart this is a slight size down. Try them on and buy locally to support your local retailer who will likely be able to provide a boot fit, also recommended!"

    Sizing

All SCARPA ski boots use Mondo sizing. SCARPA ski boots break on the half size, this means that a half size shares the same shell length as the whole size above it but the liners are lasted for each 1/2 size. For example, a 25.5 and 26.0 are the same shell size but the respective liners come pre-molded to the half size. Some skiers may want to downsize up to 1 full Mondo size, depending upon personal preference.
