    The new INSTINCT S is the most flexible model in the Instinct family, designed specifically for steep sport climbing, bouldering and training. Our new CTS (Combined Tension System) technology offers the big toe precision you expect from the Instinct family, but also incorporates the elasticated fit and tension of M50 rubber across the top of the foot providing maximum toe hooking capabilities and increased sensitivity while the firm Ilga rubber wraps up and over the inside of the foot for support. The full microfiber upper utilizes our RFB technology to ensure a snug, secure fit across the instep for the life of the shoe while the heel cup features PAF for comfort as well as both M50 and XS Grip2 rubber for high heel hook friction.     Features

    • CTS TENSION SYSTEM

      The CTS is a combination of elastic tension rubber that controls the length of the shoe and soft high friction rubber that surrounds the forefoot. The soft M50 rubber evenly distributes power around the toe area and reduces pressure on the little toes. The harder tension rubber supports the big toe area and inside edging zone and is directly connected to the heel. The result is outstanding strength and precision on small footholds.

      REINFORCED ELASTIC BAND (REB)

      Reinforced Elastic Band is a technology used exclusively on the Instinct SR. Elasticated rubber is applied to the stretch gauntlet over the forefoot providing a snug performance fit while also preventing the upper from overstretching.

    Technologies

    M50 is our softest rubber compound offering the best levels of adaptability to the natural curves of the foot and toes. A rating of 50, making it perfect for use in our SRT system, toe patches and strategic positioning around the shoe upper.

    REB Technology overlays thermoplastic rubber over an elastic instep panel, which delivers unparallel foot hugging fit in a slipper, and ensures that the feel and precision will last for the life of the shoe.

    VIBRAM® XS GRIP2 delivers excellent friction with enough firmness for moderate edging.

    All SCARPA non-plastic footwear and our Alien 3.0 uses European sizing.

    • 1 Euro whole size = 6.6 mm = 0.26 inches
    • 1 US whole size = 8.4 mm = 0.33 inches
    • The 30 Euro sizes below cover the same size range as 24 US sizes
    • Euro sizes provide a better, more precise fit for your intended use
    • For mountaineering boots, upsize (1/2+ sizes) depending on desired fit.
